What you need to know

As the conference organizers cannot take responsibility for any personal injury, loss, damage, accident to private property or additional expenses incurred as a result of delays or changes in air, rail, sea, road or other services, strikes, sickness, weather, acts of terrorism and any other cause, all participants are encouraged to make their own arrangements for health, travel and cancellation insurance.

CURRENCY


Greece, as a member of the European Union and the Eurozone, use the EU`s common currency, the EURO.

  • Do not bring too much cash but rather use your credit or debit card. Major credit cards (amex, visa, mastercard, dinners) can be used in most shops, restaurants and businesses, look for the logo displayed at the entrance.

  • Should you choose to exchange money then do so in a small amount not to attract attention, also note that a passport is required when exchanging currencies. Cash can be obtained from: 

  1. All banks that accept currency exchange (From Monday to Thursday: 08:00-14:30 and on Friday 08:00-14:00, closed on weekends and public holidays)

  2. Exchange offices situated in Athens airport and city

  3. The ATMs of the banks that accept your credit card

ELECTRICITY


Please ensure that you bring an adaptor should you wish to use your Laptop or other appliances. The electricity voltage in Greece is 220V / 50Hz and the plugs are of type F. To avoid the risk of a short circuit, be sure to have transformers and adaptors for your electronic devices or ensure that your chosen accommodation will provide you with them. If you intend to do a presentation using a Data Projector and a MAC Computer, please ensure you bring your own MAC video adaptor and equipment.

WEATHER


Greece has a mediterranean climate with plenty of sunshine, mild temperatures and a limited amount of rainfall. In the sun don’t forget to wear a hat, sunglasses and sun block cream. You can check the daily weather at www.meteo.gr.

HOW TO REACH CONFERENCE CENTER HOTEL

Titania Conference Center Hotel is located in Athens city center, at 52 Panepistimiou Street,
a 10 minute walk from Panepistimio Metro Station.

From Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”

To Titania Conference Center Hotel (36 Km)

For all Metro/Bus transportation please swipe your paper rechargeable ticket at the turnstiles to validate your ticket in the machine as you board and keep during your journey in case of spot-checks. For Metro, in order to exit you also need to swipe it again for the gates to open. The ‘Ath.ena ticket’ is a paper ticket that you can recharge as many times as you want. This ticket can be charged with products such as a regular one-way fare and a 24-hour or five-day fare. Tickets can be purchased and recharged at any automatic machine and ticket office, upon arrival at the Airport Metro Station or Syntagma Square station or any other Metro station.


  • By METRO, Ticket cost 10 € per person each way: From the Airport take the Blue Line (Line 3 – direction ‘Agia Marina’) and get off at Syntagma station stop.  (about 1 hour)

  • By BUS, Ticket cost 6 € per person each way: From the Airport take Bus Line X95 ‘Syntagma – Athens Airport Express’ (Orange Line). (about 1 hour, depends on traffic). Bus terminates at Syntagma station stop.

From Syntagma station you can

  • Either take the Red Metro Line (Line 2 – direction ‘Anthoupoli’) (1 stop) (no need for extra ticket, you can use the same) and get off at Panepistimiou station, use exit National Library and from Panepistimiou station, walk to Titania Hotel (walking time about 5-8 minutes) 

  • Walk from Syntagma Square to Titania Hotel (walking time about 15 minutes) 

  • Take a taxi, cost about 4 € (approximately 5 minutes drive, depends on traffic)


By TAXI: From the Airport take a taxi, fare starts from 40 € (depends on travel time and traffic) (about 30-45 minutes driving time)


By PRIVATE TAXI transfer: If you wish to have a person waiting for you holding a sign with your name upon arrival and transfer you directly to your hotel, we can arrange for private taxi transfer.
